2017

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for all you are doing to help save young lives. A dear friend of ours lost a son today to an undetected heart issue. He was a 20 year old college student enjoying life. Our sadness for his parents is overwhelming. If only he had had the chance to be screened this may not have happened!

Again, Thank You!!
Linda

2016 EKG at Douglas Freeman High School

Post March 2, 2016

My daughter, Stacy Winter, attended your free heart screening at Douglas Freeman on Feb 20th.  She was one of the kids who received an ‘abnormal’ result and I wanted to provide a follow-up.   She saw a cardiologist yesterday and if I understood correctly the left side of her heart contracts slower than the right.  The Dr said that since it was a consistent issue and she was showing no other symptoms it is not something to worry about at this time.   However, we should monitor her and make sure she is examined at yearly check-ups for heart murmurs, clicks, chest pains, etc which would require additional testing.    Thank you so much for offering this service and allowing us to become aware of this condition.

2014 EKG Screening at McLean High School

Hi Jeremy,

William, my son, went to Pediatric Cardiology Associates, PC this afternoon and they checked him out.  They replicated the 1st degree AV Block on their EKG too but said he would be fine.

When they asked how I received our reading, I told them about your organization and they mentioned that Ryan’s foundation has brought in many people for screenings and that your organization does great  and valuable work in our community.

Thank you for your follow up and kindness.

Many blessings to you!  Alice Kim

2014 EKG High School Screenings

Good morning,

I think this is a wonderful event. I have said for a long time that EKG’s should be a regular part of sports physicals for any child entering their freshman year. I am a RN and would love to volunteer. My children are both in travel sports activities and I do not know their schedules for the May-June timeframe but please keep me posted.

Thank you for sharing your story.

Dear Lopynski Family,

I am writing to thank you for establishing the Big Heart Foundation in honor of your son, Ryan.  My brother, Greg, died from cardio myopathy on March 14, 1994 (20 years ago).  I have often wished that there was more screening of youth and young adults for heart conditions because like so many, he had no symptoms and we had no idea that he had an enlarged heart.

In honor of my brother, I just registered my 12 and 15 year old daughter and son (Adrienne and Logan Moody) for the screening on March 29.  Thank you again!

Thank you for providing this service.  It is very admirable to turn such a negative into a positive.

Thanks again,
