About the Event

High School Screenings

One high school aged athlete suffers a Sudden Cardiac Arrest every three days in the U.S! The leading cause of death in young athletes on the playing field is an undetected heart condition. The best way to detect these heart conditions is through a heart screening using an EKG (Electrocardiogram).

The Ryan Lopynski Big Heart Foundation in partnership with INOVA, The Children’s National Medical Center, and the Fairfax County Fire Department, will conduct FREE ON-SITE heart screenings for high school and middle school age youths in Fairfax County. An EKG screening analyzes the electrical signals of the heart. The results are reviewed on site by local cardiologists.
